As a founding partner of Kirkegaard and Perry Laboratories, Dr. Leslie Kirkegaard (right) has a 25-year record of successful product discovery. His work involved the induction and purification of serum antibodies, the conjugation of these antibodies to enzymes and chromophores, and the use of these conjugates in ultra-sensitive assay systems. In recent years his work has progressed to include the production of gold sol conjugates and the optimization of lateral flow assays. Glen Ford (center) comes to BioAssay Works with 30 years of experience in the laboratory, and with more than 15 years of experience in development and production of lateral flow assay systems. He developed lateral-flow assays for the antibodies induced by numerous viral and bacterial agents in blood, serum, saliva, and urine. He recently developed lateral-flow tests for HIV (AIDS) that are capable of detecting HIV antibody in urine where it is present in concentrations over 1000-fold less than in serum.
